This sugar solution is recommended by veterinary parasitologist as the preferred flotation media for intestinal parasites. Many of these parasites require a solution with an S.G. of 1.2 or higher. Salt solutions such as Zinc Sulfate have a specific gravity of 1.18. Directions: Sheather's Solution Preparation: Add 454 gm (1 lb) of table sugar to 355 ml of very hot water. Stir until dissolved and allow to cool. This solution will grow mold if left out, so keep refrigerated and use quickly.
