Have been using the spectra shield tags on our four dogs for many years and will continue to do so. Since using the dogs have no fleas or ticks and we live in woody area of Northern Illinois. Would highly recommend to all dog owners. We have discovered that the tags will repel for more then four months.

can you use them on dogs under 14 pounds?
Susan N on May 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi there,

Per the manufacturer, the smallest size is 4 gram.

Q. Can the 4 gram medallion be used on a dog less than 14 lbs?
A. No. The 4g medallion is not recommended for dogs under 14lbs. During development it was determined that the size of the 4g medallion was too large for dogs of this size, therefore no testing was performed and safety on dogs under 14lbs is unknown.
How many tags are in a package?
Number of tags in package?
Sandra C on Oct 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There is one tag per package but it does last a few months. I used 2 per dog during the whole season in WI. There were NO ticks on my dogs. The tag has NO odor detectable. You probably should be careful with smaller children that may want to play with it.
How well do these work?
A shopper on May 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We live in New York with twin Bernese Mountain Dogs. We learned of the SpectraShield from our breeder who has 12 dogs in Virginia without any problems. We also haven't had any ticks/fleas in the past 2 years using the SpectraShield.
Can this be used on a nursing mother?
Tammie H on Mar 14, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No don't use on a nursing mother. There are homeopathic collars that will not be harmful to her or the puppies but still work fairly well on fleas and ticks

BEST ANSWER: I’ve been using Spectra Shield on 2 dogs for over a year and have an indoor cat as well...I’ve seen no affect on the cat..although they really don’t cozy up to each other too much.

Lisa R on Jun 23, 2017
