Nice Cage
This is a really nice cage with plenty of room for my 2 rats. The only issue I have is that the small opening makes cleaning difficult. This is quality construction and looks very nice. Overall this cage was a good buy.

Great Cage
I just set up this cage today and it was fairly easy to set up, aside from putting the top on (that was the hardest part).I have four female rats, and this cage is the perfect size for them. I bought it mainly because of the price, but I really like that the shelves and ramps are solid. I would definitely reccomend this cage to anyone with 2 - 4 rats.

Great for rats
I own ferrets and rats. I use this cage for my rats. It is excellent for them. The ramps, shelves and drop pan come out for easy cleaning. The door is hinged on the bottom, so when I open it, my ratties can climb on it to come to me. The floor wiring is a separate panel that can be removed for cleaning or if you want to use the drop tray as the floor. Two wishes: the door was a little bigger so it is easier to take items in and out; the legs and wheels were detachable so the cage could be placed on a table.

We like this cage!
Our ferret is small and was able to get out of our first cage with 1" wire spacing. This cage was one of the only cages we could find with small 3/8" wire spacing. I would agree it is only big enough for one ferret and you need to be creative on how you place things inside. I using a corner litter pan under the lower shelf and attached a small box next to that filled with toys. The locking thing won't work on this cage because of the wire spacing so I made a loop with a tie wrap and put the loop through the wire and put a clothes pin through it to secure the pan. We have a huge hammock hanging above the lower shelf with toys on elastic in each corner, which she often plays with from her hammock. I attached a small box onto the top shelf with a blanket in it and our ferret likes to run up there to get her treat. The cage is smaller about half the size of our first cage but she has adjusted well and more imoprtantly is safe. Oh yea, since our ferret is litter trained I didn't want her walking on the lower grate so we left it out and used the plastic pull out tray instead. The floor is much easier to wipe clean this way. We attached and a couple of metal strips to the under side of the cage to support the tray. If you have a large ferret, or more than one ferret, I wouldn't recommend this cage. But if your ferret is small like ours (6 months and only 2#) this cage could work for you.

Agree 100% with Christine
I can't say much, because I am having the exact same problems Christine stated. After putting in your litter pans food bowls etc., there is little room left on the bottom. I love to spoil my carpet sharks as well and after installing the hammock and other essentials, your left with very little room to work with. The build quality is pretty good. This cage would be fine for 1 ferret, but it is just to small for multiple ferrets. They do tend to slide on the metal ramps. My last major concern is the single door in the front. It makes cleaning a little harder and difficult to reach your fuzzy if he is up in his hammock.

It's ok...
We got this when we got our first ferret and it served it's purpose but we soon realized that it looks bigger than it is. When we started building up the amount of toys and beds, we quickly ran out of room. If you don't have a whole lot for your ferret it would be fine. But I love to spoil my babies. We then got a second ferret and upgraded to the Ferret Nation, we are much happier with that cage. And so are the ferrets. The prevue cage can easily house 2 ferrets if you don't have a whole lot of play items in the cage with them. It was difficult to clean because the door is so small you can only fit one arm in at a time to do anything inside the cage. The shelves were also so tiny they served no purpose other than a place for the ferrets to walk. So the only real place for there ferrets to be is on the bottom of the cage. The ladders were also a little hard for the ferrets to walk on.

Has anyone used this cage for a chinchilla? pros and cons? please list reasons for the pros and cons as well
Kailey M on May 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Spacially, it is minimum area for one active chinchilla. Mine is very active, and the only really negative thing about this cage is that the ramps rattle a LOT when an animal runs around a lot. VERY noisy!! If you can secure the ramps tighter with zip ties, that helps a lot. Because of how the ramps are placed, there isn't a lot of room for an appropriate sized exercise wheel, however ... so no, I really wouldn't go with this for a chin. Perhaps a trio of ratties, or a few sugar gliders (with the ramps and shelves removed) ...?
I need to replace the Ramps and Platforms for this Cage (Small Animal Cage 495)... Any ideas???
Thanks, Kevin

Not sure what kinda critters you are keeping but I can tell you what I've done in the past. Of course you can always go to the manufacturer of this cage and look for replacement parts. I don't have any on our site I could suggest,
There are some great DIY tutorials online for small pets and cage set up. You may enjoy setting up fabric ramps and tunnels or even rope bridges. I am a big fan of them myself. They are fun to make and watching my girls play and sleep in them is great too. I have also taken plastic baskets and zip-tied them to the sides making a staircase of little nests my girls can hop in to go up the side or sleep in. I graduated from a similar cage that you have to a Double Critter Nation. I'm never going back. If you get a chance take a look. Its a great cage for most any small pet
