Optimmune is a sterile eye ointment containing cyclosporine which helps treat chronic conjunctivitis, Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca (KCS or dry eye) and other eye conditions.

Optimmune reduces the inflammation and irritation while and also increasing the amount of tear production. Cyclosporine is an immunosuppressive agent. It is used to treat diseases and disorders caused by an overactive immune system. The medication is a sterile ointment for treating inflammation associated with dry eye syndrome (Keratoconjunctivitis Sicca) in animals.
For use:
Dogs only
Active ingredient(s):
Do not use Optimmune if your pet has any type of fungal or viral infection in the eye or if your pet is allergic to cyclosporine. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication or supplements you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. The following drugs can potentially interact with cyclosporine: gentamicin, amphotericin B, ketoconazole, erythromycin, cimetidine, phenobarbital, and phenytoin. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
Side effects:
Possible side effects may include tearing, redness, blurring of vision, and itching which may result in your pet rubbing their eyes. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Optimmune Ophthalmic Ointment should be applied as directed by your veterinarian. Use a non-irritating solution to remove any debris from around the pet's eye prior to application. Exercise proper caution not to touch the dropper or tube opening to any surface including eyes or hands as that may contaminate the product. Always wash your hands before and after administering the medication.
