Neo-Poly-Dex Ophthalmic Suspension
Neo-Poly-Dex Ophthalmic Suspension is a used in the eye and eyelid to treat bacterial infections and swelling or inflammation as a result of the infection.
Benefits:
Neo Poly Dex is a combination of neomycin and Polymyxin B, which are antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections, and dexamethasone, a steroid, used to treat swelling associated with bacterial infections of the eye. It can also be used as a preventative for infection in eye injuries or wounds.

Caution(s):
This medication does not have an FDA approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals. Inform your veterinarian prior to use of this medication if your pet is using other eye drops or eye medications or is currently taking an oral steroid medication. Avoid using this product in cats with conjunctivitis, as it may likely be a viral infection. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.
Side effects:
Possible side effects may include burning or itching and possible hypersensitivity. Notify your veterinarian if side effects appear and remain troublesome. Other side effects may occur, if you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Usage:
Neo-Poly-Dex suspension should be administered as directed by your veterinarian. Shake well before administering the suspension. Exercise proper caution not to touch the dropper or tube opening to any surface including eyes or hands as that may contaminate the sterile surface. Wash hands before and after application.
