Overall pretty good
It gets beat up pretty bad in shipping due to next to no packing material in the box so you have to bend different parts of it with pliers to fix it before putting it together. It's also not that easy to put together unless you have a ton of space. The price was awesome but I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" applies. Not bad once you go at it with pliers to fix and finally get it all set up though.

Good crate for the right dog.
Whether this crate will work for you or not depends on the demeanor of your dog in crates. If you have an aggressive dog that does not like being in a crate, this crate will not withstand a determined large or giant breed dog that wants to get out. However, if your dog is well crate trained, or actually enjoys their crate, this is a pretty good crate. We have an English Mastiff that currently is 6 months old and weighs 100lbs. We expect her to reach 175-180lbs. fully grown. She has been crate trained since the day we brought her home and is very content in her crate so she does just fine. We expect that this crate is all we will need for her entire adult life. Almost gave it four stars, but as others have pointed out, there are no instructions on assembly. Took about an hour to put together - would have been 15 minutes with decent instructions.

Perfect Crate for an X-Large Dog
We purchased this crate for our adopted Great Dane puppy. The crate is huge, but she will definitely grow into it. Very sturdy. There are rods to put in each of the corners for stability. It is not a portable crate, but we were looking for something permanent in our living room. And no problems shipping to Canada!

This is my 3rd kennel for my 3rd Great Dane. It is very spacious and my danes love their kennel time. We often find them in there when they don't have to be just sleeping. This is deal for very tall dogs because it gives them plenty of room to spread out and stand.

can you please tell me the correct weight for the midwest xlarge dog crate that is 54x37x45 ?
this description says 90 lbs shipping weight but people have told me it is 50 lbs.
please let me know correct weight, thanks
miriam g on Aug 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It is definitely 90 lbs. in box and it only might lose a couple of lbs. out the box. Takes two people to move. It's BIG
Is it portable?
Debbie H on Jul 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, sort of. It is designed so that it can be taken down fairly quickly. You can even fold it up in such a way that it lays flat and locks into place, but not quite as easily. However, be aware that this crate all together (folded or erected) weighs 90lbs.! Not sure how portable you consider 90 lbs. Also, the smallest dimension that you can get is equal to the dimensions of one side. Example; a side is 47" x 54" plus depth of the sacked components, approximately 1.5".
I live in a tiny motel room. I have s 48" plastic crate I store on a platform I built. But need a larger crate. And one that I can open and at least fold up and put out of the way every day. How easy does this fold up and fold down again?
Thanks!
vwags on Jun 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This is not the crate for you because it's very heavy, I believe about 90 lbs and doesn't fold, it completely de-assembles into 6 sides. So it's something you don't want to assemble every day...

It's great for the purpose of not moving it around much.

I would suggest perhaps using a gate somewhere in your house to keep your dog in a large area and without the gate getting in the way...

Hope this helps.
DO you have a 54inch wire crate with 2 doors that measures 54inch length and 39inch or less height?
Mildred K on Mar 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I do not have that size I am sorry. The size down from this is only 42"
Please list bar spacing. My reason for purchase is to house kittens but in for the future I hope to reuse for small birds, such as small Parrots or Lovebirds?
Tina B on Sep 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: While it's a great crate I don't think it would work for birds. There are places that a small bird can easily escape. I had a cockatiel and he would definitely have gotten out!
Does this crate include the pan?
A shopper on Jul 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, yes it does.
Is this the crate to puppy train a cane corso? Is there a way to make it smaller for training purposes?
A shopper on Aug 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I am going to suggest a different crate if you are looking for a dog crate that will grow with your puppy.

The Midwest XXL Dog Crate only comes with one door but you can get a divider and a pan for it easily. Each part is sold separately.

What I like about this cage, especially for big breeds, is that it can accommodate a puppy and then expand to hold your dog when he is fully grown. This cage is the same dimensions as the double door you are looking at but is about 2" short in with. Good luck with your new puppy!

Shoshana Z on Jul 11, 2016
