Fit the dog (or as close as I can find.) A crate not so long but wider would be best. We have a very tall standard poodle (28" at shoulder) that likes to lay with her legs stretched out.

It has two doors which makes placement more flexible
It is exactly the size I am looking for
The weight is reasonable

Stewart K on Feb 24, 2016
This crate was recommended to me by the breeder I adopted my dog from. It has worked perfectly. Therefore, when I adopted a puppy, I ordered the same crate for him. The divider came in handy and was easy to adjust as he grew.

I needed an adjustable size crate. The divider works great! If i would've used a box, my mini Dachshund would've destroyed it the first night home.
Amanda M on Oct 1, 2013
2 doors makes access a breeze; reviews have been excellent - even my breeder recommends this crate.

My Bassett puppy will be 45 lbs. will the medium be big enough for her?
A shopper on Aug 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Below are the dimensions for the Intermediate cage. I suggest this only because the Medium is rated for dogs up to 40lbs and your basset is a bit over that. Knowing her body shape I would suggest measuring your puppy first and seeing if the size is appropriate for her. You would like her to be able to stand up, turn around, and lay back down in her crate.

What size is the middle door on the 36" crate? how far from the left does it sit?
silodog on Jan 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My "Medium" crate is 24 1/4" wide x 20" tall x 18" deep --- not a 36" crate?
Door is 12 3/4" wide x 15" tall and is 6" from the front left.
Hope this helps --- check size chart 36" is not the medium size crate.
