Will this cage hold sugar gliders? I'm trying to decide between this and the Critter Nation Small Animal Cage Double Unit which is more expensive but has smaller spacing, thanks
Best Answer: Critter Nation wires are closer than Ferret nation. But since we do not have sugar gliders can not say which is better. Google sugar gliders and you will find all kinds of info. That is how we have learn about our chinchillas.
Can the middle section be removed, so that it makes one large cage?
Best Answer: Yes, you can do that - but it has to be done as you are putting the cage together, it is sandwiched in between other metal rims.
Does this cage have a cut out for food bowls?
Best Answer: No it doesn't, however, there are several brands of feeders/bowls out that that can be attached to the vertical bars of the cage that work very well. With my ferrets, I use Midwest Snap'y Fit Stainless Steel Bowl, which comes in a variety of sizes and they're easy to remove to refill or clean.
does it have a wire bottom?
Best Answer: Sorry it took a minute to reply but yes and no it does but they're covered by the plastic pans that slide in and the bars on the bottom of the top level actually make it very convenient for hanging tunnels and hammocks and the pans are great because you can just pull them out and clean them off for the price this cage is wonderful I absolutely love it I hope this helped :)
what demensions are the ramps?
Best Answer: Approximate dimension of the internal ramp is 18" x 5.5" .
Is this two cages? like can one ferret be put in the bottom and the other in the top and them not get to each other? Ive got two that get along and a third that the other two like to attack so he is In a small cage at the moment, I must do something.
Best Answer: Yes. It could be easily adapted to be seperated. For the assembly it really is two cages and a base.
The middle of the cage has an access cut-out and so does the plastic pan/tray. You might could find another solid tray without the cut-out and use in the middle shelf OR make your own trays from coro-plast (found at home depot with the plexi-glass). If you do that leave flaps long enough to make walls to contain messes. We bought this cage/condo for our ginea pigs and they had some compatibility issues, we thought we were going to have to do the same thing, which really made this cage appealling. The shelves and ramps can moved so the lower shelf could be on the opposite side of the cut-outs to hopefully prevent chew-throughs. Good Luck! By the way, we still got coro-plast and cut in 4" stips high to build walls and contain messes because the trays are only about an inch deep. We did that on the back and a side to protect our house walls.
Will it support a 17 lb. cat or dog as a large hangout space?
Best Answer: While the weight is probably NOT an issue (I use mine to house new cats/kittens that I rescue - multiple in a single double unit) You will need to consider if the size (width) of the pet will allow it to move from one level to another through the openings, with or w/o the ramps. Also, you might need to anchor the small shelves, sturdy bungees cords or coated wires. If the animal is active, they can dislodge the shelf.
Not sure a dog would adapt, but cats do well in these.
Would this hold sugar gliders? I'm trying to decide between this one and the Critter Nation Small Animal Cage Double Unit that is more expensice but with smaller spacing, thanks!
Best Answer: I have Chinchillas - it good for them. But the spacing is larger than the other model. I would question how big is the sugar glider's head? If there is a chance it can fit thru the spacing and get stuck - go with the smaller spaced cage.
Can this cage be taken back apart once it is put together? I know I'll be moving in about a year and I'm worried about how well it'll transport.
Best Answer: Short answer - yes. We ended up using a rubber mallet on a couple of the "insert tab A into slot B" connectors, so had to use a good amount of strength and "oomph" to de-assemble it - but as long as nothing is too badly bent, it actually comes apart fairly easily for a human - a ferret could not accomplish it.
I have a chinchilla who currently has a wire and plastic cage. He has chewed through all the plastic and has escaped twice. Is this cage going to solve that problem? How much plastic is there?
Best Answer: I love my FN cage. There are 4 plastic trays in the cage, however, I only use the two larger ones. You will need to add wood ledges throughout the cage to give them something to jump around on. You will also need to cover the plastic trays with non-pill fleece. I make a pillow-case style cover to where you just slide the tray in and the chins cannot get to the trays.
Is this cage chew proof? I have a prairie dog that has chewed through a regular wire rabbit cage before.
Best Answer: My 2 ferrets bite on it and its pretty strong mental but your prairie dog will probably be able to chew threw the plastic trays for sure they are NOT very strong. I think the mental is stronger then a rabbit cage though I have bent the bars on one with my hands but this cage I can't!
Is this cage good for gunia pigs?
Best Answer: I don't think so. The cage has multiple levels and I think a guinea pig would just poop and pee all over it. It would be a real headache to clean. The cage does not have deep enough sides for bedding and guinea pigs are near impossible to box train.
Does it com with the wheels or rollers?
Best Answer: It does come with the wheels to roll around. It has been a great cage!
What is the bar spacing 1 in or 1/2 in ?
Best Answer: 1 inch. I believe the critter nation has 1/2 inch.
If moving to a different house/apartment, how easy is it to split the two units after being put together?
Best Answer: It is very easy to take apart . you can break it all the way down or just in half depending on space needed. Plus you can use just bottom half to house your ferret.
Are the shelves made of plastic or metal?
Best Answer: Shelves are hard plastic. Very good quality and washable. Very happy with the quality of shelves and metal structure. Great quality ferret cage.
How large is this cage?
Best Answer: The cage is 36" long, 25" wide and 62.5 inches tall. Our Chinchilla Fuzz lives in the cage and he loves it. There is plenty of room for his exercise saucer, house dust bath and multiple toys. He has room to run and loves to zoom up and down the ramps. The door closures are good quality and easy to close. I ordered the cage sight unseen, and worried about the strength of the bars as we have had lower quality cages where the welding has given way when we attached his exercise wheel. This is NOT the case with these bars. The cage doors open fully, which makes cleaning easy. I recommend this cage highly.
Best Answer: Approximately 36"L x 25"W x 63 1/4"H .
Can this cage be used for prairie dogs?
Best Answer: I think it would be ok. We also have the Critter nation cages that have smaller bar spacing.
What r all the accessories that come with cage double unit?
Best Answer: It comes with the ladders and the plastic flooring that is removable for cleaning.
it says free shipping but why when I checked out it says shipping to be determined?
