Product Summary:

Drinkwell® Platinum Pet Fountain
Ideal for cats or dogs under 50 lb.

The Drinkwell® Platinum Pet Fountain is the ultimate in style and design. It utilizes the same innovative watering system as other Drinkwell® Pet Fountains, featuring the patented free-falling stream of water. This entices pets to drink more, keeping them happy, healthy and hydrated, while also serving as a convenience product for owners. The Platinum features a new snap-on lid to prevent accidental removal, a pre-filter to catch any large particles before they reach the motor, and a submersible pump for nearly silent operation.

While most people are aware of the human benefits of drinking enough water each day, many likely overlook the intake needs of their pets. Water is an essential element for both humans and pets alike, yet getting enough H2O can be challenging, especially for our furry friends that prefer free-falling water to stagnant water in a traditional feeding bowl. Proven to benefit your pet's health, the Drinwkell® Pet Fountain is a great way to show your pets just how much you care. Research shows that one of the best ways to improve your pet's health is to get them to drink more water. By using a 5-inch falling stream of water, the Pet Fountain continually aerates your pet's water with healthful oxygen. The easily maintained product holds more than one gallon of water (with the use of an optional reservoir), and best of all keeps pets off of counters and out of sinks and toilets.

Why Animals Love Running Water
In nature, moving water is much fresher than stagnant water. The movement constantly breaks the surface tension of the water and draws oxygen from the air into the water. This process is called aeration and it makes water more appealing to drink. Pets may be drawn by instinct to moving water for this reason. The Drinkwell® Pet Fountain filters and aerates continuously moving water to keep it much fresher than a standing bowl of water. It satisfies the urge for running water and so helps eliminate jumping on counters in search of dripping faucets.

Jury is still out my cats won't drink from it yet so I can't really say how well that part works. Product it self seems fine. May up date later if they use it.

My 2 cats LOVE it!!
My 2 cats love playing in the bathroom sink when the water was on and always preferred drinks from the sink even though fresh water was available. I have been using the fountain for 4 years, it is their favorite. One of my cats does like to stick her head under the running water which does cause it to splatter and the other like to paw at it occasionally, as if checking the temp! I suggest putting a plastic place mat and/or a small towel under the the fountain to protect carpet or flooring if your pets/ats enjoy water play. The fountain is easy to set up, clean and has a very nice reservoir to hold water. be sure to buy extra filters. Although there is drinking water available in multiple places throughout our home, both cats still love the bathroom sink and my Oriental shorthair even likes to come into the shower with me, but the fountain this is their "go to" for drinking water. I highly recommend this product!!

The cats love it
One of our cats would run to the bathroom every time he thought we were going in there because he wanted us to turn the water on so he could drink directly from the faucet. In the beginning, after we got the fountain, it curbed his behavior a little bit. He still runs to the bathroom to have the water turned on but he likes to play with the running water. The good thing is he is not playing with the running water from the fountain. We have 3 cats and the capacity of the fountain is great. I have to fill the reservoir every 5 or 6 days rather than filling a regular water bowl twice a day.The fountain is very easy to set up and very easy to clean, especially since it is dishwasher safe. The only improvement that I can think of would be to make the lip of the bowl a little higher. The water level comes right up to the lip and if you have to move it, there can be a little spillage.I would definitely recommend this to anyone with pets.

Do NOT buy this!!!
We had the Drinkwell Big Dog Water Fountain for a couple of yrs and it finally went kaput last month. Decided to try this one, the Platinum Water Fountain, instead because it was a little cheaper. Cheaper was right! But it isn't always better. Besides being really small (requiring almost daily fill-ups & cleaning) it's also a real pain to disassemble & clean, it clogs up very easily like every 2 days, and has leaked water since day one! The water container is so cheap it broke the first week we had it. I would NEVER recommend this to anyone! My advice is to spend the extra money and get the Big Dog water fountain instead. It was much sturdier, way easier to clean & fill and lasted a very long time! I'm still kicking myself right now for not buying another Big Dog fountain instead of this one. Really wish I could trade this useless one back for another Big Dog one instead!Feeling extremely disappointed and robbed in VA

Cats love it!
I love it and the cats love it! It stays full for about a week with 2 cats drinking from it, and does a good job of circulating the water. Both cats choose to drink from this fountain instead of their old gravity water dispenser. Some dirt still settles at the bottom, but water looks much cleaner than with other water bowls. They have also stopped knocking the water out of the bowl which I believe they did due to their old water looking still and stagnant. Overall a good buy!

how do you refill the water tank?
A shopper on Jan 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You take the resivior off of the back and fill it up and replace it. Make sure you slightly pull and hold the nozzle down when replacing the resivior to ensure you do not spill any water, and it will slide back into place
does it work?
A shopper on Dec 30, 2014
BEST ANSWER: It works very well! I have had it for at least 9 months, and I am completely in love with it. I have 2 cats and it takes about 4-5 days for the back container to get low. My cats no longer scoop the water out of the bowl like they used to, and I don't have to worry they will run out of water when I have to leave them for a couple days.
How big is this?

BEST ANSWER: 16" x 10" x 10"Enter an answer to this question.
Is the plastic sturdy?
A shopper on Dec 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes the plastic is very sturdy. I have two cats, and they couldn't hurt this thing if they wanted. I am not sure if any larger animals could cause damage, but my gut says it would be okay. We have loved it! Holds lots of water, and keeps it clean!
Will this tip over?
A shopper on Aug 1, 2014
BEST ANSWER: it is very stable and I have a cat, two Chihuahuas, a Doxie, a German Shepard and a chocolate Lab. We have not had any mishaps with the fountain.
