Why did you choose this?
is this the best device for a dog with arthritic hips, or are there specific ones for different maladies?
Best Answer: We bought one for our 14-year old beagle who had arthritis. The first time we used it she freaked out a little when her feet left the ground as we lifted her into the car with it, but after a few trips wearing it, she only needed it to aid her in climbing steps or getting into the car. She had a nasty habit of trying to jump up stairs, something she could do when she was younger, but not at fourteen. We called her our suitcase, and even our vet asked us about the Walkabelly. I highly suggest getting the custom harness straps. It keeps them from sliding out--like I said, she liked to jump up the stairs, and would often slip out of it. You might also contact the manufacturer directly, and see if she recommends a specific style for you dog. But, absolutely, their products should make getting around much easier for your dog, and less stressful for you. Hope this helps!
