Product Summary:

Royal Canin Shih Tzu Dry Dog Food

The special physiology of the Shih Tzu, such as its flowing coat and sensitive skin make it a very unusual breed that needs special attention, especially in terms of its nutrition.

Features:

·         L-cystine and methionine, amino acids essential for renewing the hair, combined with linoleic acid to promote a glossy coat.

·         Helps the skin defend itself from outside attacks by means of a synergistic complex, rich in B vitamins, that effectively strengthens the skin's protective barrier and by the inclusion of essential fatty acids to calm epidermal inflammation.

·         Helps slow the progress of degenerative diseases by incorporating a synergistic cocktail of antioxidants to slow cell degeneration, and limited levels of phosphorus.

·         A supply of hydrolyzed crustacean and cartilage extracts help protect the cartilage in the joints.

·         Specially designed texture that produces a brushing effect which results in the reduction of dental plaque formation.

·         Includes chelating agents that slow tartar development by fixing the calcium present in the saliva.

Rated 4 out of 5 by My Shih Tzu loves it I put his normal Halo dry food and the Royal Canin on a plate (half each) and he always eats the Royal Canin first, then walks away. I feed Halo also because it doesn't have chicken "meal" as the Royal Canin does but since he likes this more I give him both. April 14, 2011
Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 Shih Tzu/Bechon 2 years old (on the web they are We first used Solid Gold in the Pink bag. We found this food gave them a looser stool. They liked this food very much. We switched to the Royal Canin and the dogs like this food too. The stools are firmer which makes them easy to pick up. Also either of these food made a big difference in the amount of eye watering and staining. For the most part the eye discharge is gone. A co-worker has a Bechon and told me about these foods and how the have helped with the eye discharge and the allergic scratching we saw when they were eating Iams. It was like they were scratching all the time. On another note the Solid Gold Cina treat they love these things. September 5, 2009
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent food My Shih Tzu is about 10 (he's a rescue) and has eaten this food about 8 months now and has a healthy coat and he's such a picky eater but he eats this food! Only the best for him. He deserves it! The price is kind of high but the lowest is at dog.com. In the pet stores it is much higher. April 9, 2009
