Intermediate and larger kennels do not come with handles for carrying. Large, X-Large and Giant have a dial latch door system for added security.
While this kennel is airline approved, it is suggested you consult with your airline prior to purchase. Rules may vary as to what they will allow.
If 2 or more Giants are ordered, they must ship via Motor Freight.

Rated by 5 out of 5 Robin Hill Terriers Great crate, great price!
Having to ship a puppy international, I found this crate to make the procedure very easy. The crate is already airline approved for international travel and comes with everything you need to fly your dog cargo. The plastic is sturdier than the normal Vari-Kennel and the door is also more substantial. I liked these so much I just ordered 2 more for my terriers here at home when we travel to shows.

Heading overseas and received our large sized crate in great time! Dog seems okay exploring it, and plenty roomy for his size. Appears to be designed for international travel and comfort. Helpful info inclosed.

I bought 2 of the SkyKennel #200 to fly my cats from California to North Carolina. The crates claimed to come with everything I would need to pass airline requirements. The airlines require metal fasteners; these came with plastic wing nuts. Also, the handle is not the best. As I said, I shipped cats: 17lbs and 14lbs respectively. The crate I shipped my 14lb cat in made it all the way through in perfect condition. The crate I shipped my 17lb cat in made it from California to North Carolina fine but the handle ripped out as the airline attendant was handing me the crate. The flight schedule for the cats had one stop-over. So, all told the crates with cats inside were moved at most 10 times before the handle ripped out of the top of the crate. Overall, I think the crates were great. I would just note that shipping animals over 14lbs might cause the handle to come off after a few moves when loaded.

I foster for a rescue group and this has been the best crate I have ever used. I have dealt with the worst cases of seperation anxiety and this is the only crate that has been able to withstand a 70lb crazy dog.

Rated by 5 out of 5 Anne Excellent Shipping Kennel
I purchased three of the large kennels for shipping six month old greyhounds. They came quickly and with everything needed to ship. They come equiped with four holes molded into the plastic around the doors to attach zip ties for further reinforcement of the door. The door on the large through XXlarge have a very good locking latch system. Although many brands of kennels claim to be airline approved most airlines will not accept a kennel with a plastic latch system used to assemble top and bottom kennels. Sky kennels come with the proper metal bolt attachments. They are easily cracked if dropped however, so care should be taken until they are assembled.

Rated by 5 out of 5 boom petmate kennel carrier
use one shown, medium size --as bird carrier and night cage (he ate the plastic window on the one he came home in); use it to take cats and rat terriers to vet; it also works as a holders while cleaning ferret cage, so as you can tell it is very handy and cleans easily used daily.

Why did you choose this?
I would need this crate in size large. With metal door and metal hardware. With 2 bowls (for food and water) and 4 "live animal" stickers. How much for all that? How much shipping and how long it will take?
what is the weight limit for a puppy in this kennel?
Is the kennel ventilated on all 4 sides? Does anyone know the approx weight of the giant?
I have a 30 lb. whippet, 60 lb. Vizsla and 90 lb. Golden Retriever. Please tell me which sizes
I need to purchase to transport my dogs by airline from San Diego to Hawaii?
does it have dividers to allow for growth?
Best Answer: There are no dividers. I don't know why you would want any. Our dog was 12 lbs on his first trip and now is 19 lbs.. We've never had a problem with him in the kennel on flights as long as 8 hours.
I need a new carrier for my ferret, how big are the gaps between wires for the door? She managed to squeeze in between 1" squares before...
Petmate Sky Kennel Pet Carrier Giant
Best Answer: I'm sorry on the delay answering you. I was only able to get the grid size for Item# 497428 and it's a 1" grid. I think they are all around the same size though.
what size dog max??
Best Answer: We transported a 60 lbs Catahoola very comfortably in this. I can see a Golden Retriever or Labrador fit just as well. The limitations on international flights (which was put use scenario) are more limited due to strict size regulations by the IATA.
I need crates for my dogs. They weigh 15lbs and 17 lbs. Heights are 11-inch and 13-inch. Lengths are 21-inches and 23-inches. Which size should I choose? Is this airline approved?
Best Answer: I bought this crate for my LG German Shepherd. I needed the height. Your dogs appear to be small. It would be very roomy for 2 small dogs. There are only a few Airlines that have pressure controlled cabins for pet safety. Be sure to research Airline requirements. Some will take small dogs in the cabin with the owners depending on size of dog.. But yes, mine is Airline approved if you want a lg roomy crate.
Are they stackable? I'd need 4 and would have to stack 2 on top of 2.in the back of my van.
Best Answer: I've purchased a lot of these crates for work. To my knowledge, they are not meant to be stacked. I wouldn't do it unless you have a way of tying them down securely. Animals are typically already nervous about travel, but more so if their crate moves around or shifts.
Is the size xlarge okay for a labrador?
It's for an over sea flight is this carrier iata prove?
Best Answer: I have a 70lb male boxer who is tall/leggy (not stout) and the XL was just fine for him. In fact he preferred being in the L size for my 50lb female boxer! But for the flight from LA to Tokyo on ANA (in Nov 2013) he went in the XL carrier and everything went perfectly. EXCEPT make sure the airline people don't ever put the crate(s) on one of those normal luggage carts - when the dog stands up/moves around in the carrier it can easily go off balance and it toppled off once with him in it! He was fine, but I was devastated! It's stressful enough without that happening so get there early and have them find a flatbed cart or two employees to carry them to the cart that takes them to the plane. Also, I don't recommend traveling alone with big dogs, I was by myself with both dogs and really messed up my back lifting them. I'll never let my husband forget it! ;) Best of luck, hope this helps.
help - I have a new Giant Petmate crate and cant get the door open ? FYI - The dog is outside of it, thankfully, but I still need to be able to use the door!
Best Answer: The door is a bit hard to open you just have to make sure the lock is in that hole at the bottom. It sounds like yours is kind of stuck, maybe on the outside of the hole which is causing it to stick. We usually just leave ours open and our Saint Bernard goes in to sleep or when she needs the security. We also tell her to kennel up when she is being inappropriate when someone is here and she will go to the kennel and sit there until she can calm herself so we rarely use the door.
I'll be replacing the plastic nuts with steel nuts. How many will I be needing and what size (7/8? 1 1/4? 1 3/4?)? Also, am I going to need the steel bolts as well?
Best Answer: We shipped our pet from BWI to London Heathrow in this fantastic carrier, and used the original plastic nuts. United Airlines had no problem with that, and the nuts were perfectly fine. Also, United installed plastic ties as a precaution. However, if you don't want to risk it, wait until your carrier arrives, then take a bolt to Home Depot or Lowes, and the staff there will identify which nuts fit the existing metal bolts, or you can use the gauge they have hanging up on the hardware shelves that identify the both type for you. What color is this product?
Best Answer: The one I got is a very neutral beige. However, they may come in other colors; I don't know. I've been happy with the product but be aware that it does NOT meet IATA standards for international travel. However, I was not able to find any carrier at all that did meet those standards! I had to 1) drill holes the size of quarters in the back panel (easily done) and 2) replace the plastic screws with metal ones (also easily done, but a bit expensive).
Hello, What size carrier do you recommend for a 66lb doberman female? Are the metal bolts required for international flights? Thanks
Best Answer: If I remember correctly (2 years ago), I bought the extra-large size for our 70-lb greyhound when we moved to Germany from the U.S. I do believe you have to use the metal bolts. The carrier worked great with no problems for our dog. Hope this helps. BTW, depending on where you live, you may need to use a professional service to move the dog. I lived in Dallas, and they will not ship animals if the high is above 80 degrees. That meant I had to use Lufthansa Airlines, which would ship the dog (I think they have special handling for the animals) and they would not allow individual owners to move the animals. I used Happy Tails out of Arizona, and had a great experience (expensive). Everything went very smoothly.
I have cats 15lbs each what size kennel should I purchase for air travel?
Best Answer: Hello Alfred,
I wish I could help you more, but we had a lot of problems with the airline, United, and the crate. According to the website chart our 30 lb beagle fit into a medium crate. He fit in it well and was able to turn around and sit properly. However, United forced us to up size at the airport right before we were to board an international flight. This was a huge ordeal, as we were moving overseas and flew out of a Newark, NJ -- several states away from any family members. United charged us for the up size, kept our brand new crate and gave us a used dirty one in its place. We had contacted United many times to ensure we had everything right. But, it obviously comes down to the person working the pet counter. Good luck to you.
What size for a pit bull that weighs close to 70 pounds?
Best Answer: Depending upon height of dog, you will need a 400 or a 500 for shipping with airlines. Domestic flights require 1" clearance above head while standing, plus room to turn around. Int'l flights require 3" clearance above head. If you are wanting it for crating in your home, you may want a roomier, larger crate if dog will sleep in it or spend some time in it during the day.
I cannot see the number of Live Animal stickers at are included. ? I want a total of 5. I anticipate ordering extras, but would like to know how many to order.
Best Answer: All sizes come with 3 stickers. Two are "Live Animal" stickers, and the third is the one showing all of your pet's information. Hope this helps!
Hi. I was looking at buying 3 of the giant carriers. Will the 3 carriers come in one box, stacked and disassembled?
Best Answer: They will come each in their own package. *Please Note* If 2 or more Giants are ordered, they must ship via Motor Freight.
If I order a PEtmate Sky Kennel, Giant size, how quickly do you ship. I am flying in 2 weeks and says economy shipping only? Zip code is 27265
Best Answer: Our economy shipping in the 48 contiguous US states is listed as being 7-10 business days. It generally takes 1-2 business days for an item to ship out.
shipping time ?
Best Answer: It depends on where the item ships to and what type of shipping you select.
is this carrier good for 10-week-old great Pyrenees puppy?
Best Answer: I bought the carriers for my cats who are 8 and 11 pounds. It's very roomy. As a matter of fact an American Airline's reservation agent has told me one carrier will be enough for both cats on our return trip to the States.
what's weight of this carrier, medium size?
Best Answer: The approximate physical weight of this item is 12 pounds.
I am moving back to the UK from the USA and taking my dog with me. She weighs about 50lbs is 23 " tall (to her head) 24 inches long (chow retriever mix) what size Sky Kennel would be good for her to travel in, please?
Best Answer: Well you want to make sure the dog can stand up and turn around. Going by the size of your dog, you may need the intermediate size. This size does not come with the handle on the top of the crate for the safety of the dog. Also, you may want to contact your airline to make sure crate is airline approved. Hope this helps!
how much does the Large crate weigh alone?
Best Answer: Weight 49lbs Length 37 Width 26 Depth 14
I have 2 cats moving to Tasmania from the US. One weighs 15 pounds, the other 16 pounds.
What size pet carrier should I get? Most are either for smaller pets or 20-25 lbs or more. It's hard to find an airline approved carrier for 15-20 pound animals
How much does the X-Large crate weigh empty?
What are the measurements or am I missing something?
what are the dimensions so that I can ascertain whether it will fit my dog?
Does this come flat pack?
Does the intermediate size crate have a handle on the top?
Best Answer: Yes, there is a handle. We have a 35 lb. beagle. According to the sizing this was his preferred crate. However, Delta decided that this crate was too small and they put him in a very large crate. Huge. They charged us -- of course, and kept our brand new crate. They "provided" us with the same brand -- very old and very used crate without a handle. Good luck.
