new puppy to block out of dining room with nice dining room furniture. Had experience with last dog when he was a puppy chewed up all the legs on the dining room chairs

Is this a free standing gate u can move around?
A shopper on Jun 7, 2015
Best Answer: No. If this is the same one we bought, it must be attached to the wall. Since we did not want to do that, we were going to return it, but the cost of shipping was almost as much as the gate itself, so we are stuck with it. Think twice before you purchase an item online that you have to pay shipping if you return it. Saw one on Groupon the other day that folded and reached up to 50". I could have used that one but don't need one now.

is there a gate in this barrier? Or do we have to step over the barrier to enter and exit the area?
A shopper on Jan 30, 2015
Best Answer: You can open and close by sliding one part of the gate but it doesn't slide easily sometimes so stepping over might be a better option. It's not tall at all so unless a toddler is trying to step over, it shouldn't be a big deal.

how long is this gate?
jim l on Nov 1, 2013
Best Answer: It says: Expands from 53-96” wide and stands 24” tall. If I recall, either it was just a little shy of 8 feet, or the opening I has was a little bigger than 8 feet. I just remember I needed to add a 2x4 on either side to make up the difference.
