Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 6 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ex pens We ended up getting 2 of these pens, one smaller and then a little taller as our puppy got old enough to knock the first one around. This was the best price I found ANYWHERE. Kept one in the kitchen, one in the family room with a tarp underneath. Suggest you surround it with gallon size water jugs (empties refilled with tap H20) to stabilize. Even our older dog loved to be in there! Big enough for a snuggie blanket, toys, little water dish. You can zip-tie them to deck rails to protect them from squeezing through the rails. October 11, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Awesome pens I have six of these pens. We breed standard poodles and these are awesome for keeping the puppies safe. I have also used them in my garden to keep our poodle kids out of our fish pond. I always recommend these pens to the families who get our puppies. July 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by If you have a new puppy... buy this. I've never owned a dog before so I was a little skeptical of buying an exercise pen, but it turned out to be sooooo worth it. I have a 4 month old frenchie and I attach the pen to his crate when I'm gone so he has room to move around and play but won't destroy a room. I set the pen surrounding our front door so I can leave the door open and he can walk outside a little ways but can't run off. The things you can do with an exercise pen are limitless because you can fold it so many ways. I like this pen because the wire is coated will and there are no sharp edges sticking out. Some of the clips to hold the pen together broke when I tried to collapse the pen with them still attached (oops), so I just use rock-climbing clips. Worth the money! February 2, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love It I live in a condo so I can not have a perminate fence but I have 2 small dogs so I need a fence. I purchased 3 sets and connected them, it's perfect! The grass is mowed once a wk by a company, when they come I just fold up the fence and put it back up when they are done; takes 5 minutes. The only reason I only gave 4 stars on the quality is because I have noticed a little rust starting but, no big deal. This is one of the best purchases I ever made. July 19, 2010
Rated 4 out of 5 by Own TWELVE so far...very useful! I bought two 30" x-pens way back when they first came out new on the market. I have purchased eight 48" x-pens and taken them apart, separating them into individual panels to reconstruct into a single pen configuration for up to 30 dogs... summertime use! I have four 30" pens for my babies, of differing ages. I use zip strips, snap bolts, plastic fencing as a top, with cedar bedding for flea control. This is an excellent product to contain my tiny and small Chihuahuas and Pomeranians! June 3, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good Ex-Pen, just Watch the Edges This is a nice pen and good looking too. One suggestion is when you get it, check round the edges. I slid my hand on the top when closing it, and sliced my palm with a very sharp metal shard. I removed it with a needle-nose plier, but that was painful. Now that I have a smooth ex-pen, I'm enjoying using it already to block off the kitchen when I'm making dog dinners. Besides using it to contain my dogs at dog agility class and trials, this will be a versatile item to keep dogs out from under my feet in the kitchen. August 12, 2009

How big Are the holes in the panels I'm using this for bunnies???
Austin W on Sep 2, 2013
Best Answer: There is 1 1/2" between the bars. I use them for bunnies too! Mine are Flemish Giants. The spacing is fine for adults, but babies can squeeze in between. We also use these for our adult guinea pigs and it works perfectly.

I bought the 48"H pen thinking that the rabbits would be able to hop out. They actually don't even attempt to. I wish I had gotten a 24" or 36" because the higher pen is a little cumbersome and hard to reach into or step over.

Good luck!

How many panels do you get??
c a on Aug 26, 2013
Best Answer: You get 8 panels which are already connected to each other in one long piece. There is no door, but you can easily make one of the panels swing in or out like a door. it comes with spring-loaded lobster-type fasteners to hook the two free ends together.

What size is good for a small rabbit?
asia c on Jan 19, 2014
Best Answer: This would work for a rabbit, but I am not sure if the coating on it is good, because they chew? You may want to look at this size without the coating if you can?

is this suitable for very small dogs weighing less then 8 lbs?
janice o on Jul 28, 2014
Best Answer: I think the pen would be fine for a small dog. I use mine as a portable play pen for my little hens who weigh between 4 to 5 pounds. They can squeeze their heads through the holes, but their is no extra room. Your dog's head is larger, so I don't think there would be any danger. BTW, I really like mine.

Is the Ecoat a rubber coating?
Jeanna B on Mar 15, 2014
Best Answer: In short, electrocoating (also called e-coating or electrodeposition) is the process by which a metallic workpiece is submerged in a paint / water bath and electricity is used to deposit paint onto the workpiece. The electrodeposition process is the most automatic, controllable, and efficient method for applying a corrosion inhibiting primer to a metallic workpiece.

I have owned many of these.. I started out with the gold ones but found the black coated ones had less wear and tear after years of use. These pens are very handy for many occasions. We raise Italian Mastiffs, we use them as puppy pens or just to block off areas we don't want dogs to go. Take them on car trips so we always have a secure area when we are out of the car...out in grass areas for potty breaks. I highly recommend this product!

if u have 2 what shape can u put the pen in ?
A shopper on Feb 26, 2015
Best Answer: If you put two together you have multiple ways you can use it. If you make a configuration with more than about 4 panels in a straight line you should be reinforce the panels by staking or by securing the corners for stability. A continuous circle makes the strongest configuration.

does this pen have a door in it and can you then extend it by using several pens to form a large circle for two active puppies?
A shopper on Jul 3, 2014
Best Answer: The "door" is simply the end panel - it's hinged at the edge (as are all the panels) and you can latch it to the other end of the set - there's no door built into one of the panels. It would be easy to extend into a larger pen by joining two or more sets of panels. I've used black nylon zip ties to join panels together. After trimming the ends of the ties they're almost invisible.

Note: I've separated the panels by removing the metal hinges (not as easily done) and reconfigured them into a large cat cage with roof for a cat by using several sets of these panels. You can really make almost any type of structure out of them with a little creativity and nylon zip ties.

It is feasible to cover the top of this cage so a cat can stay in it outside safely. If so,with what?
A shopper on Sep 20, 2014
Best Answer: If can be covered in one of two ways. When set up in rectangular form (48 wide by 48 deep) you can top with two extra 24 X 48 panels, held in place with metal clips. This is probably the most secure way. With a cat you would need to put clips fairly frequently to leave no spots where they could squeeze through. The send way is to top with a tarp, also secured well to eliminate holes where a cat could climb up and squeeze through.

My puppy will be eight lbs when fully grown. What size pen should I purchase? She will be using the pen only until potty trained. Thank you.
Paula L on Mar 11, 2014
Best Answer: You probably won't need anything bigger than the 36 inch high since your puppy is so small.

What do the bottom of the panels look like? I'm planning on using this indoors on a hardwood floor and don't want the pen to scratch the floor.

Erin A on Nov 16, 2013
Best Answer: The horizontal lower bar rests on the floor and this is smooth - however, the vertical crossbars extend down to barely touch the floor as well. Their ends are smooth to touch along the bottom but their edges are not filed down, so i guess they could scratch the floor if dragged across it at a slight angle. We haven't had any scratches but our floor is wood laminate.
