Just because your dog is showing a little gray and doesn’t have energy like before, it doesn’t mean that he or she can’t continue to lead a healthy, active and long life. Until recently, the conventional wisdom was that senior dogs needed low protein and low fat foods for optimum health. This was based on the mistaken belief that older dogs had lower nutritional requirements and were not well equipped to handle protein and fat.

Recent studies actually show that older dogs have similar nutritional requirements as their younger counterparts. As a result, Innova Senior Plus Adult Dog Food is not unnecessarily restricted in protein or fat. Oxidative damage is believed to contribute to aging; therefore, Vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant, is incorporated into the food at the maximum levels allowable. In addition, because weight control and joint health are common concerns in older dogs, Innova Senior Plus Adult Dog Food has slightly more fiber than Innova Adult Small and Large Bites to help with weight maintenance and the addition of glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate to help maintain healthy joints and cartilage.
