Dog Loves It!, 7/13/2012

Kim from Rome, GA

My boy is a chewer/destructor, but (with supervised play) he loves this toy. We are on number two, because he can still crack the plastic. If your dog doesn't play with it or goes for the wrong end work with them to teach them how to use it. I use a small bites dog food in it most of the time and occasionally a larger sized food for extra challenge. My dog would rather just crush the back to get to the food, but after showing him how to use it, it keeps him busy as he tugs and turns it over to get to the food. Great toy.

Great Tug a Jug, 2/27/2012

Doris from Milwaukee, WI

I bought this for my Siberian Husky when she was a puppy. It took her almost 2 yrs to figure it out, but now she just steps on the tug and picks it up by the bottom to get the treats to come out. It probably doesn't take more than 15 Min. to empty it, but it keeps her out of trouble while she eats her food. Love It.

Brittle Lid, 8/11/2011

Bethany from Huxley, IA

My dogs were just starting to enjoy their new toy when the lid cracked all the way around. I contacted Premier and they said that there had been some issues with the lid. They're sending me a new lid, hopefully this lid is more sturdy, otherwise I'm sure they'll send me another when they've fixed the problem. Premier has always stood behind their products, thank you!

Disappointed , 6/21/2011

Liz from King of Prussia, PA

My dogs were given the tug-a-jugs only once in awhile. The threading at the base of the jug cracked on two out of three. They were then unusable. I contacted the manufacturer, but they did not respond. So a lot of money spent on defective merchandise, manufacturer didn't respond, left with unusable toys...guess they will go in the garbage. Will not buy Busy Buddy toys again.

they changed the rope!, 4/2/2011

judy from pennsylvania

My dogs LOVE this toy so much that I bought them a new one (they finally chewed the rubber ball off the end of the rubber rope in the jar). The problem is they replaced the thick rubber rope with an actual piece of rope-it lasted about an hour! Now the treats can't fall out!!! I need one with the rubber rope! Sincerely, sad pups in Pennsylvania.

Great Entertainment, 12/11/2010

Becky from Corpus Christi, TX

My German Shepherd Puppy chews up lots of things, but she has only managed to untie the rope lead on this one. After 6 months it still works and she gets great pleasure from slinging the thing around the room. Watch out for your knees, it packs a whollop! She rarely gets her small treats to come out because of the rope, but tries anyway. I am ordering her and her friend a new one for Christmas!

Wonderful, 7/2/2010

Ann from

My 9 month old puppy is full of energy all the time. She absolutely loves this toy. It is amazing to watch her as she turns it upside down, and then pulls on the rope to release a treat. I wish I could find more toys like this!

Good concept, rubber ring needs to be as indestruc, 2/20/2010

KC Chick from

The concept of this toy is great, and the fact that my dog is a very powerful chewer isn't really the fault of the manufacturer. Even though he ripped the rope to shreds with in an hour of play, and in under a day had the rubber ring chewed down to nothing, but he still is entertained by the toy and engaged by the task of getting the treats out. Other reviews said that when the rope is ruined, you can put a tennis ball or golf ball in with the treats/kibble to keep the flow slow, but I don't know what to do about the spiked rubber ring, which is now mostly gone. I wish the rubber collar were made of the black kong material, as that's the only material that has thus far been truly indestructible for my dog. This is more comparable to the material of the red kongs, which my dog can reduce to bits in a few hours. I do prefer the design of this toy to Kongs, However, because my dog can very quickly remove treats from Kongs.

Great, but not an "inside toy", 1/14/2010

LR from LA

Our Lab loves this toy, and it lasted about 6 months (pretty much a record with him) However it is the MOST noisy & destructive toy he has. When he grabs it by the rubber extension and swings it around he has nearly broken a couple of windows! He also cracked 2 tiles in he kitchen by dropping it for us to throw... but he does love it.

Corgi Loves it, 12/19/2009

Jessica from Boston, MA

I've been trying to find a toy that keeps my Corgster busy for more than 10 minutes and this is it! He loves this toy. For two days it's all he's been doing when we set it down for him - we actually have to take it away for him to do something else!!! LOVE IT!

Holds up to its name, 10/30/2009

Denise from Richmond, IN

I bought this for my Golden Retriever who is an active chewer and he loves this thing. He will kick and scratch this thing all over the room until it's empty then bring it to me for more! I put cheerios in for breakfast. We've had it about 6 months and he's never damaged it even though he has been real rough on it.

Ineffective, 10/5/2009

dalene miller from tallahassee, florida

I had hoped this interesting toy would help keep my busy Vizslas entertained. Unfortunately, there are sent holes at the opposite end from where the kibble comes out (when it does, which it rarely does). So my 2-year old chewed at the scented end until she managed to unscrew the cap. This cap is hard, brittle plastic, so I was alarmed at the possibility of her breaking it and ingesting pieces. Also, the dogs lost interest because it's so hard to get any treat out of it with the rope knot in the way. Interesting idea, but ineffective.

Wonderful for 10 month Lab, 9/3/2009

Jennie from Hong Kong

My yellow lab adores this bottle... he is also a very active chewer, but has not destroyed or damaged this since purchase 4 months ago. Treats must be smaller sized so they come out more easily. I use this for one of his meals so he eats more slowly and stays busy. It's a wonderful toy!

Loves it, but difficult, 1/27/2009

dogmama217 from Springfield, IL

I bought the large size, which is very durable - but my wheaten terrier is not a big chewer. He loves to play with it, but will probably never understand how to pull the cord to get the treats out. He loves to knock it around until they fall out... and this toy gives him quite a work-out.

Not durable for strong chewers, 1/11/2009

Stephanie from Poughkeepsie, NY

I bought this last night for my 8mo old pit bull and it was already destroyed by this morning. He loved it while it was in one piece and had a great time trying to figure out how to get the treats out. Unfortunately, he chewed right through the "rope" portion that goes into the bottle and now the treats just fall out when he kickes it around. Not worth the money I paid for it.

Works - w/ improvising, 11/19/2008

Laurie from Utah

My power chewer (lab/border collie) goes through rope toys really fast - this one too. HOWEVER, I put one of those dryer balls inside to make the treats harder to get out, and it's still working 1 year later. I'll probably get another one someday.

Keeps them occupied!, 9/3/2008

Kim M from Lafayette, LA

I rarely find toys like this that will last more than 1 day...but this one has. I bought several back-ups just in case. We have 2 large retrievers and it keeps their chewing under control. However, our Chesapeake Bay has learned how to unscrew the bottom and go straight for the treats.

What a great, great toy! My lab/collie mix usually figures out interactive toys in a matter of seconds. This one took much longer, and she is still mentally stimulated by it. Its also extremely durable. I recommend removing the rope at first to make it a little easier...

Toni from Los Angeles, CA

While my 1 year old Aussie can't get enough of this toy I have suffered many a bruise while he shakes it ferociously in his play. One of my walls also suffered a dent. If you have an energetic dog you may want to keep your distance when they start tossing the jug around! :)

Not for aggressive chewers, 4/29/2008

Erica from Pullman Wa

My collie/lab x loved this toy more than any other toy. The only problem is she chewed through the rope so she didn't have to pull anymore and just tips it upside down to get the food out. It took her about a month to chew through it, so it was worth it!

Kate from UK

Got one of these in a big order of toys today and its already a favourite. Very tough and durable, with a high doggy approval rating. It seems to be harder work for him than the other treat toys we have, which means its more tiring and keeps him busy for longer. Two paws up!

Keeps Busy, 8/5/2007

Cindy from South Dakota

My collie loves this toy. I bought the small size and it is perfect for him. He loves to chew on plastic bottles and so this is pretty indestructable for him, plus when treats are in it he works at it for quite a long time. I do break up the treats into small pieces so that it is not too difficult to get out.

Great Intelligent Toy, 7/23/2007

LaShelle from Iowa City, IA

I have a 9lbs Morkie, and she loves to play with this toy. I just stick a handful of Cheerios in it, and she works on it until she has them all out! Usually this is only about a half an hour. But it is great to fill in the morning before I leave for work. She has figured every other intelligent toys pattern out, but this one she still has to work at. She is not one to shake it, but rather paws at it to turn it upside down, or pushes and pulls on the rope to get the treats to fall out.

This toy is so fun to watch my dog use. He doesnt swing it like the other two reviewers mentioned. He just rolls it, tips it an pushes it. I put really small treats in at first and showed him how to use it. Now hes a pro but it still keeps him busy. This is one of the few toys that stands up to me boxer. I recommend it highly.

I have a Lab whos very food-motivated and has a lot of energy....she is absolutely OBSESSED with this toy! She carries it around til someone puts treats in it for her and she now eats her meals out of it since she normally eats her dinner too fast. Our Golden & Berner also love it so we had to buy 3 to make everyone happy. Kudos to the person who invented this!

My dogs favorite toy, 5/9/2007

Melinda from Austin, TX

My dogs love this toy. They choose it before anyother. I had to purchase the larger size because they were able to unscrew the smaller one and chewed the bottom off. If you have a chewer be aware that the rope is easy to distroy and then the treats are way too easy to get out!

the large seems too big for my 80lb dog although it says for 40lbs+ The plastic is very hard so our dog has wacked himself with it a few times and has respect for it. He swings it more gently than the first few times. but he does love it with treats or playing outside. this toy is like a wrecking ball in the house. it even has a warning if your dog likes to swing things its not a good inside toy.
